Live in the World Well, and Practice Flows Easily :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 11 Aug 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Jan 22, 2026

"To live in the world, one must know it, one must understand it. If we live in the world with a peaceful mind, content with our circumstances, then when we take up moral precepts and meditation, there will be no worry. Some are in debt from soccer betting, with loan sharks threatening their lives. They flee to practice in monasteries, hiding within the grounds. Can their minds be at peace? Their minds cannot be at peace. They live in fear of when they will be killed. Therefore, living a clean and blameless life is essential. It brings happiness. When we reflect and see no faults, no breaches of morality, or even when we may not see ourselves clearly but good friends or teachers affirm our goodness, then our minds become peaceful and content.
If we live cleanly and blamelessly, when we sit to practice the mind will gather easily. With just a few breaths, the mind is collected. If we train well, then when we wish for the mind to gather, it gathers instantly. But if our minds are defiled, filled with bad thoughts and suspicion, fearing exposure, then no matter how long we sit, the mind will not collect. Meditation will not succeed. Therefore, as laypeople living in the world, we must live wisely."

Free from Suffering Through Knowing the Truth :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 1 Sep 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Feb 5, 2026
"Once the mind is stable and equanimous, wisdom arises, seeing the truth of the body and the mind. When we clearly see the truth of the body and the mind, we will realize that the five aggregates are nothing but suffering. There’s nothing in the body and mind, in form and mental phenomena, but suffering. Once the mind accepts this truth, craving doesn't arise. When craving doesn’t arise, there is no grasping, no mental struggle, and no fabrication, so mental suffering doesn’t arise. The mind becomes free. It is free from suffering because it is free from fabrication"

Dhamma for Laypeople :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 11 Feb 2024

"Meditators don’t ignore their duties and responsibilities. Some people drop their duties, intending to go meditate at the temple. But while they are at the temple, they worry that their work is not finished. So, they can’t focus on anything, and no task is successful.
We have to be able to practice within our normal working live. We shouldn’t think that we need to go ordain to meditate. People who still think so are like lotuses in the mud, not under water but in the mud.
So, be aware of worldly duties that we may have. We may have the responsibility to take care of our family, parents, children, and spouse. We may have additional responsibilities at our workplace. Otherwise, you would be making sins from now till the future.
So, choose a clean work and work on it fully. If it’s clean, it won’t impact our meditation practice. We are laypeople, so don’t neglect both worldly matters and dhamma. If we only care for worldly matters, it’s just like all other people. If we only care for dhamma, this is not knowing our responsibilities."

How one can escape suffering :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 19 Oct 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Feb 26, 2026

"first acknowledge that the goal of our practice is to transcend suffering. Secondly, to be free from suffering, we must extinguish its cause. How can we extinguish this cause? We must thoroughly understand suffering. When we understand suffering clearly, cause of suffering is automatically let go of.
When we understand suffering clearly, what do we know? Firstly, we know the existence of form and mental component that come together to form our sense of self.
Secondly, we further understand that these form and mental component that make up our sense of self are impermanent, suffering, and non-self. If we can truly realize this, we will be free from suffering. We will be free from clinging to these form and mental component. If we are free from clinging to form and mental component, we've essentially transcended the world."

    A Practitioner Is a Fighter :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 8 Dec 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Mar 26, 2026

"Endure. For my disciples, there is no surviving without endurance. Truly, you cannot survive. I was a person of great endurance. When studying with Than Pho Lee, he instructed me to practice mindfulness of breathing. I practiced every day. Even when I didn't know how to progress further, I still continued practicing like that.
For 22 years, I kept practicing. When I met Luang Pu Dun, he taught me to observe the mind. I observed it every day. I observed all day whenever I could. There were only two times when I couldn't observe: when sleeping—if I observed then, I wouldn't sleep— and when doing work that required thinking. If it wasn't time for sleeping or time for work that required thinking, I maintained mindfulness, reading my own mind continuously.
A Practitioner Is a Fighter. This war is not an ordinary war. It's a war to eliminate rebirth, not a war of genocide. It's a war to eliminate rebirth, to leave no trace of it in the future. Therefore, this war is a great war. Don't be weak."

Observing the mind is not difficult :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 8 Sep 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Apr 2, 2026

"observing the mind is not difficult; we just need to look back at our mind. Everybody has eyes, ears, a nose, a tongue, a body, and a mind. Don’t pretend to be deaf or blind. Don't force the mind to be still without thinking. Let our mind function naturally. Let it see, hear, think naturally. When our eyes see forms, we don't need to suppress our reactions. If our mind feels happy or unhappy, let it be. It's not difficult to be aware of our mind, but we often neglect it because we focus on external things instead."

Learn to observe phenomena as they are :: Luangpu Pramote Pamojjo 17 Nov 2024

    หลวงปู่ปราโมทย์ ปาโมชฺโช
    Apr 9, 2026

    "Knowing Your Own Mind.
If we can read our own mind, we’ll find that practice isn’t as difficult as it seems. We don’t have to act on anything; we just observe how the mind works. However, getting to this point isn’t easy— it requires considerable training. Some people practice for a long time but still can’t see their own mind because their thoughts obscure reality. They think constantly and never truly understand the Dhamma.
Sometimes, studying too much makes things worse when it comes time to practice. Their thoughts intrude, always analyzing: “This state is called this, it functions like that, it produces this result,” or “This state arises because of that.” They overthink and don’t truly observe phenomena. Instead of seeing the reality of phenomena, they fabricate interpretations, leading only to a temporary sense of calm or contentment. They think they’ve understood since the mind seems happy, but in truth, they haven’t eradicated any defilements.
Train to observe phenomena properly. When the mind gains enough strength and stability, it will begin to see phenomena— both physical and mental—as objects of observation. These phenomena arise, persist, and fade away. This is the essence of meaningful practice. If you remain caught in thinking, you’ll only achieve superficial calm."
